About IPB
Isolated Phase Busbars (IPB) or coaxial enclosed busbars allow the safe transport of enormous amounts of current.
The conductor and the enclosure are made of highly pure aluminum, ensuring excellent electrical conductivity.
The enclosures are short-circuited at each end and earthed at one point, allowing the generation of an induced current close to the conductor.
These two opposing phase currents cancel out 95% of the magnetic field, enabling safe work near the busbars.
When the current is too high (>25,000 A), convection and natural radiation cooling are no longer good enough, and forced cooling becomes necessary.
The insulators between the busbar and the enclosure have a large creepage distance. They can be made of porcelain or epoxy and ensure dielectric strength regardless of the altitude or pollution level of the site.
