Bellows, Sleeves

Bellows and sleeves are used to connect IPBs to each other or with machines such as alternators or transformers. They are mostly made of EPDM but can also be offered in reinforced silicone.

These parts are crucial to ensure the reliability of the connection because they primarily guarantee the protection index of the connection. They also protect personnel against direct contact.

These parts require increased monitoring as they age the most due to weather conditions, frequent temperature changes related to the plant’s operation, and the presence of oil.

Deterioration of these parts can have serious consequences as water may accumulate in the enclosure

joints

Gaskets

Generally extruded following a profile designed to ensure sealing and/or isolation between two parts.

Closed (glued) : under shells at the connection, at the seal off bushing, and in the erection of insulators.

Adjustable length : between panels or to stick on doors/panels.

Synthetic gaskets and sleeves age and deteriorate, especially in outdoor installations (saline
air, sunlight), and can cause air leaks (see our maintenance recommendations).

Limited lifespan. When changing these sleeves and gaskets, the spring washers of the connection must be replaced. We also recommend changing all accessories that allow the fixation of this material, namely regressive wedges, buckles screw, stainless steel strip, and copper wire (electrical continuity of strip and wedge).
